Resuming Project “Rustic Farm Table”

Farm Table Top, New to Old
Rustic Farm Table Top, Turning New to Old

I started a Rustic Farm Table project at the beginning of January (see blog posted on Jan. 1, 2013) but had to stop due to desperately needed rain and very cold weather reaching as low as 28 degrees (that’s cold for us Texans).  Me no likey worky in yucky weather. Here’s what has been completed thus far:

  • Pre-cut frame to farm table base (used repurposed wood from old chick coop) and delivered to campsite.
  • Assembled farm table base at camp site. (It sure will be interesting to see how it comes out, being the ground is crooked and all, umm hmmm.)
  • Purchased 4- 8′ long ,1″x12″ Pine Boards for table top.

  • Left boards on my porch since I purchased them (weeks due to wet/cold weather)

On this glorious day of Saturday 1/19/2013 in Spring Branch, TX, I have just completed the following:

  • Laid boards on paint cloth (don’t be sloppy or lazy, this is a very important step with all paint projects)
  • Beat best side of the boards with heavy duty chain
  • Scrapped and banged the boards with a crowbar
  • Stained the tops, sides and edges

I hope to complete it tomorrow.  We shall see.

By the way, I really like working in my sweats as opposed to my jeans.  See, no cracker.  My husbands was so shocked he just had to get a picture of it.  Rare moment in deed.

Look, no cracker. Rare moment in deed.
